A sampling methodology developed and supplied by the JRC in the frame of MARS program has been applied under Czech conditions to obtain statistical information about acreages and yields of main crops for the entire country. The ground survey covered 806 segments, which have been situated into a stratified picture of the Czech Republic produced by satellite imagery. Simultaneously, classification of the TM and SPOT satellite data was applied to obtain acreages of main crops on regional and even local level in selected areas of interest.
