The subject of this project, directed by JRC for PHARE Environmental programme, was the application of satellite data and GIS technology to mapping of actual and potential soil erosion. Based on existing soil maps, relief, precipitation data and land cover information derived from satellite images, the model has been used to compute zones of potential erosion within a test area of 500 sq. Km in the Czech Republic.
