Abstract

GISAT is a member of the consortium that is responsible for enlargement and update of the MARS Crop Yield Forecasting System (MCYFS). The agro-meteorological model used within the MCYFS in MARS is the CGMS (Crop Growth Monitoring System). The project includes tasks to improve the operational/scientific size of CGMS and to collect new data sets which are to be used to feed the model and in general the MCYFS. The main tasks to be completed includes improvement and calibration of CGMS, implementation of the use of numerical weather based data, development and implementation of the Calibration Platform. GISAT is specifically involved in the improvement of the soil model, CORINE Land Cover implementation, ArcGIS based interface development and Calibration Platform implementation.
