This EEA additional subvention was a logical extension of the ETCTE tasks carried out under the technical annex for the year 2004 (EEA project 1.2.2 CLC2000 update). Within this task the ETC was responsible for the quality assurance and verification of the national CLC2000 databases before integration into a European database. The objective of this new work was to produce a seamless European database, compiled from the national databases in different projections. For this purpose an edge-matching of land cover polygons across national borders is required. This will be done by a verification / re-interpretation of the satellite images in the border regions (max. 2 km strip). The satellite images from IMAGE2000 – European mosaic will be used for this task.
